• The name Kaya means "rack, erect, frame, mount, support, shelf, construct" (架) (ka) and "night, evening" (夜) (ya), which literally mean "that which bridges the night" and it is hinted that this symbolizes a space elevator.
• Kaya's surname Naoe means "straight, direct" (直) (nao) and "branch" (枝) (e).
